[ad#468x60]The reason Facebook Marketing is so powerful is because of their targeting features. With Pay Per Click or banner ads, you can tell an ad to show whenever someone types in a specific search term or a keyword shows up on a page, but that’s limiting.
Wouldn’t you rather be able to show ads based on likes and interests? Or what someone is doing on that particular day? Or whether they’re single or in a relationship?
You can do all that stuff with Facebook Ads.
(… Think about it. A dating offer to someone who’s single? A self help book to someone who’s in a ‘troubled relationship.’ The possibilities are endless.)
Facebook Marketing – Facebook Ad Targeting
With Facebook marketing, you have a ton of criteria you can set that will trigger, or not trigger, an ad, including:
- Favorite books
- Favorite movies
- Groups
- Keywords
- Any demographic data you’d normally expect
I actually put together an ad campaign for one of my niche sites that I’ll walk you through…
Facebook Marketing – Build The Perfect Facebook Ad
Ok, before we get too far along, check out this graphic:
As uninteresting as it may be, one of my niche sites is ‘Cake Ideas.’ The site itself sells a couple affiliate products and has been performing pretty well with organic traffic. I decided to throw together a Facebook marketing campaign to get some targeted traffic coming through the site.
The ad above is the ad that I’ve been running. It’s pretty ugly, but I’ve split tested it enough to know that ugly works in this particular case.
The Facebook Ad is specifically targeted to:
- Females ages 30-64
- Who live in the US
- Who have the terms children, playgrounds, toddlers, crafts, cakes, cake decorating, Cake Boss, Disney movies (listed by movie title) or Disney in their profile
The result is a bit shy of a reach of 875,000! That means that my Facebook ad will be seen by as many as 875K people.
Originally, I was targeting terms like ‘parenting’ (for Parenting magazine), and baby in the demographic information but didn’t get too high of a click through rate.
Since I opened up the terms a little bit, my click through has gone through the roof and the conversions have been just as good.
Up until I watched Facebook Ad Power, I had no idea how to market on Facebook or put up a Facebook Ad. Now, it’s one of my favorite platforms and the one I recommend most to clients.
Facebook Marketing – How To
If you want to learn more about Facebook marketing, make sure you check out Facebook Ad Power. It was put together by Ryan Deiss, probably one of the most solid Internet marketers in the world. I’ve learned more from him about business than anyone else.
